McKenzie hits four as Phoenix win again

Manchester PhoenixMANCHESTER, UK – MANCHESTER Phoenix recorded another four-point weekend as they thrashed two potential Play Off opponents.

Bari McKenzie bagged a brace in a 7-2 home win over Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday and repeated the feat in a 8-3 thumping at Bracknell Bees last night.

The 26-year-old forward finally found his scoring form after his move from Cardiff Devils.

In 25 games he’s recorded 10 points for his new club but he made short work of Phoenix’ opponents this weekend.

On Saturday, although Peterborough had the game tied 2-2 in the opening period, goals from Ondrej Pozivil and McKenzie broke the rearguard.

Phoenix then motored through the third – and to the win – with three goals in less than minutes.

McKenzie tapped in at the back post before Michael Psurny hit his second of the evening after a fantastic pass through traffic from Tony Hand.

James Archer then capped a great night with number seven thanks to McKenzie and Duggan’s combination.

Last night Phoenix were down three times to the Bees until they upped a gear after the half hour mark.

McKenzie’s double kept his side on the coattails of Bracknell until Archer’s 30th of the season put them 4-3 to the good.

Liam Chong, Andy McKinney, Luke Boothroyd and Joachim Flaten ensuring a comfortable win.

Phoenix remain in third and with four matches left in the regular season could face Swindon, Peterborough or Bracknell in the Play Off Quarter Finals.
