Major Juniors Announcement

READING, Pa – For the first time in the history of our publication, PRO HOCKEY NEWS will officially begin to cover all of the major junior leagues in Canada and in the USA. The Canadian Hockey League (CHL), is an umbrella organization which is made up of the 3 top tier major junior leagues in Canada: The Western Hockey League (WHL), the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The players age range is from 16-20 years old. Each league has its own playoff tournament in which is crowns it’s own league championship. At the end of each leagues playoffs, a 4 team round-robin tournament, known as the Memorial Cup, will feature all 3 league champions, as well as the team from the tournaments host city, to determine the National Champion. In addition to our CHL coverage, we will also begin covering the top junior league in the US known as the United States Hockey League (USHL), which is a 12 team league with players 20 years of age or younger, and are located in the following Midwestern States: Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. The regular season ends on April 5, and will result in an 8 team divisional playoff system that will result in a champion, known as the Clarke Cup Champions.
