LONDON, UK – Streatham Redskins Head Coach Barry Spours could not hide his delight after he secured the signature of free scoring Slovakian Peter Molnar for the 2010/11 season.
Molnar made a major impact last season for the Redskins by averaging a goal per game in his 26 appearances. The 31 year old had spent most of his career in his native Slovakia before making his UK hockey debut in Redskins colours last season. Streatham Head Coach Barry Spours believes that the signing of Molnar gives his side a major boost ahead of what will be a tough campaign:
“Peter was the backbone of our offense last season” said Spours. “His creativity and his natural goal scoring ability was the catalyst to many of our successes,
“His experience playing in Slovakia means he is calm under pressure, and this steadiness on the ice translates to the dressing room too, his composure held the team together when we were up against it and you could always rely on him at a critical moment in the game to lift the team with one of his classic goals,
“Players like this do not come along very often, Peter gives our attacking play creativity, and he coordinates our defensive play too. Peter is sharp around the front of the net and clinical in his finishing quite simply a great goal scorer”
The addition of Molnar gives the Redskins more firepower for the upcoming campaign. Molnar is the third forward signed by the Redskins so far this summer, with Liam Rasmussen and Joe Johnston the others announced so far.
