Lightning support Help For Heroes

MILTON KEYNES, UK – League leaders Milton Keynes Lightning are set to change their traditional black, white and gold colours for the month of November to raise money for the charity, Help for Heroes. The charity was formed in 2007 to help wounded British service men and women who are injured in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is not a first for the Lightning who last season wore mauve shirts for the “Movember” Prostate Cancer awareness charity and also wore pink shirts for their 2007 play-off campaign in support of Breast Cancer Care. The Lightning supporters club have once again rallied behind the cause with fans and local businesses being able to sponsor individual players shirts. At the end of the month the sponsors will then be able to keep their shirts, the demand to sponsor the home and away shirts was so great that a warm up shirt was also made to help raise extra money. Before the shirts were even unveiled, the supporters club announced that all shirts had been sponsored. The money raised from the shirt sponsorship will be split 50/50 between the Lightning and Help for Heroes. Throughout November the club will also be selling limited edition merchandise, running a tombola and selling the Help for Heroes wristbands. A final cheque is set to be handed over to representatives of the charity at the home game against Sheffield Scimitars on November 28th.
