COVENTRY, UK – Coach Marc LeFebvre has been pleased with the response of his Genting Casino Coventry Blaze players in practice this week.
Now they are preparing for just one game this weekend, at home to Nottingham Panthers on Sunday, with victory possibly booking a play-off berth.
LeFebvre said: “The guys have responded well in practice. We had a good video session on Tuesday and looked at the mistakes we made and then worked on a few things.
“On Wednesday night we had a good practice in front of the fans and the boys were moving well. They were a little tired on Thursday morning but we are looking up now.
“They know what they did, they just did not come to play for 60 minutes. We have had a little help [with results] but it is up to us to take care of our own business, if we do that we will be fine.
“Having just one game should help us this weekend as we can focus on just that game. Nottingham have followed a trend throughout the league in struggling for consistency but they are the defending champions, they have a lot of firepower, they have a great goaltender and Corey Neilson has done a great job there.
“They come alive at this time of year so we are going to have to be ready for them. We need to play simple hockey, stick to the game-plan and do not make it easy for them like we did in Nottingham a few weeks ago.”
