LONDON, UK – Streatham Redskins have moved to bolster their forward lines with the signings of Kent Johnson and David Webb for the upcoming season.
Johnson and Webb both started last season with Wightlink Raiders but took differing paths midway through the year. Johnson made a surprising switch to South London and iced with the Redskins for the majority of the campaign, playing on the second line as a centre man to good effect. Webb quit the country all together and decided to play inline hockey in Spain.
Both players came up through the junior system at Solent on the South Coast of England, and as is typical of players who also play inline hockey, they possess quick hands and have a wide range of passing ability.
Previously, in 2008/09 Webb and Johnson formed a devastating partnership for Vectis Tigers in ENL 2, scoring an impressive combined total of 74 goals (Johnson 45 & Webb 29) for the Isle of Wight based outfit. Redskins Head Coach Barry Spours is pleased to have picked up another new face, along with a familiar one for the team:
“Dave was particularly impressive at trials” said Spours. “He is a very quick skater with exceptional control on the puck and great positional awareness and should link up well with the rest of the squad and should add extra offensive depth”
“I was impressed with Kent last season and was pleased to secure his return to the High Road” added the Redskins coach. “He scored some important goals for us last season and seemed to be popular with our fans. He has linked up well with Dave Webb in the past and I am hoping that they can combine again to produce those kinds of numbers in Redskins colours”
Streatham fans will be hoping that this South Coast based duo provide the goals for a successful 2010/11.
