Jets steal win in Motown

DETROIT, Mich- The Jets came into Detroit looking for a season-high third straight win and got the job done. Despite being out-played and out-shot they handed the Red Wings a 3-2 shootout loss.WPG Jets logo Winnipeg beat up on Detroit a week ago at the MTS Centre so the Wings who have been on a skid since then were looking for redemption but the Jets hung around and stayed the course despite being out-shot 43-21 including 16-2 in the third period. Ondrej Pavelec was outstanding in the pipes making 41 saves and another 2 in the shoot out to get the win. He was named the game’s first star. Jimmy Howard wasn’t as busy making 19 saves including a couple highlight reel saves off Andrew Ladd and Evander Kane. Winnipeg got goals from Bryan Little his 11th of the season and Zach Bogosian got his 1st of the year. Devin Setoguchi ripped a beauty top shelf during the shootout, and Ladd got the winner, his 5th shootout goal of the season. The Red Wings got a pair of goals off the stick of Pavel Datsyuk his 8th and 9th of the year, both on the power play. Bogosian led all Winnipeg players with just under twenty eight minutes of ice time and was a force all game long and he showed some beauty hands and great patience on his third period goal faking out Howard and putting the puck in the net. The Jets even their record to 9-9-2 on the season and have moved into 5th place in the Central Division and 10th in the Western Conference overall. Winnipeg continues to struggle on the power play as they went 0-3 including an overtime 4-on-3. The Jets will now head home and have a couple of days of practice before they welcome the surging Philadelphia Flyers who are starting to get hot after a dreadful start to the season.
