Jacks keep a rollin’ in CHL

ODESSA, Texas – Yes, the song remains the same in the Central Hockey League.   But the real story is the Northern Conference.   The Rapid City Rush, in their second season, have caught the Colorado Eagles for a share of the conference lead with 45 points.   The Eagles have a game in hand but nonetheless the Rush is treating the Eagles with little respect in this tight horse race.

There is very little difference between the Rush and Eagles in the statistics columns either.   The Eagles have scored seven more goals but both teams have yielded 94 goals against.   Their home and road records are virtually identical.

Bossier-Shreveport and Mississippi have gained some traction in the standings but remain a distant 3rd and 4th in the race.   Another week passed in the CHL and Wichita failed to pick up any points and remain last in the league with only nine standings points.

In the South, the Texas Brahmas have put on a surge and placed themselves in the 3rd position in the conference.   The Bull’s leapfrogged Laredo and Rio Grande to get there.

Also in the South, Corpus Christi, Amarillo and Arizona remain distant memories in the conference race.   At this point, there are too few games to enable the clubs to contest for the playoffs.   But they are certainly in a position to ruin the dreams of others.

CHL Note:   The Texas All-Stars defeated the CHL All-Stars last night in the CHL’s annual event.   The final score was 9-4.   The South Texas All-Stars outshot the CHL Stars by a 65-37 count.
