TULSA, Okla. — On the strengths of a three goal eruption in the second period, the Tulsa Oilers notched their second straight home win against the Amarillo Gorillas Saturday night.
The Oilers improved to 2-5-1 and are hopefully on the way up. Tulsa had suffered a loss by the same score in Bossier City on Friday and were operating without their captain, Jeff Christian, who was out with a neck injury. The night looked somewhat in jeopardy when the Gorillas went on the board first on a goal by Jake Morrisette in the first period..
Oilers Forward Jake Riddle proved to be the hero of the night scoring 2 goals and an assist while Tulsa centerman Brendon Hodge rounded out the three-goal second period. Michel Beausoliel was also noteworthy adding two helpers. A key turning point in the game was a 5-on-3 penalty kill situation when Oilers defenseman Ben Chiasson was whistled for boarding and Dennis Sicard took an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty at the 17:26 mark of the second period.
The Oilers move on to two games on the road in Colorado and one in Mississippi then return to the BOK Center on November 21 for a post Thanksgiving game against the Riverkings.
