Phoenix aim to down Jets

Manchester PhoenixMANCHESTER, UK – MANCHESTER Phoenix will look to continue their good start to the English Premier League season when they face Slough Jets this weekend.

But the Jets should be a tougher proposition even though they only grabbed an overtime victory last week.Tony Hand’s side hammered home 16 goals as they began their campaign in the best possible way by beating Telford and Sheffield.

They were soundly beaten 6-1 by reigning champions Guildford Flames but edged Swindon 2-1 on the road.

Ex-Phoenix forward Ciaran Long is in his second season at the Jets as is Slava Koulikov whilst Darius Pliskauskas will continue to provide the threat up front.

But forward Ryan Watt will miss out after the EPL’s disciplinary committee failed to reach a decision on a match penalty during the game with the Flames.

Phoenix travel to Slough on Saturday (6.30pm) before hosting them a day later (5.30pm).
