Hockey-Fest draw made

SHEFFIELD, UK – The UK Elite League’s first ever “Hockey-Fest” match draw has taken place in Sheffield this evening.

The draw is to determine which order the teams will play in Sheffield Arena on the 4th of October in the first ever “Hockey-Fest”. Following the success of the Twenty20 version of cricket, the Elite League has decided to try similar with ice hockey. The rules are fairly simple. 2 periods of 20mins with a running clock and it will be 4 on 4 hockey as opposed to the usual 5 on 5. If you lose, you’re out. Win and you go to the semi finals and maybe the final. If the scores are tied it goes straight to ‘Sudden-death’ penalty shots with only 1 player nominated to take the shots. The games start at 11am and each game starts on the hour, every hour until 2pm. Then there is a break until the semi finals at 4 and 5pm. The final starts at 7pm. The draw has been made and the following ties will be played in this order: 11am Game 1 – Sheffield Steelers V Hull Stingrays 12pm Game 2 – Belfast Giants V Cardiff Devils 1pm Game 3 – Edinburgh Capitals V Newcastle Vipers 2pm Game 4 – Coventry Blaze V Nottingham Panthers. 4pm Semi-final 1 Winner Game 1 V Winner Game 2 5pm Semi-final 2 Winner Game 3 V Winner Game 4. 7pm Final Winner Semi-final 1 V Winner Semi-final 2. More reaction on this draw from our Elite League reporters as we get it. Contact the author pete.lewis@prohockeynews.com
