DUNDEE, UK – Rapid Solicitors Hull Stingrays fell to one of their heaviest defeats of the season as they were beaten 8-2 at Elite League Gardiner Conference champions Dundee Stars.

Captain Jeff Smith pulled a goal back for Stingrays at 25.51 but John Dolan (33.23 powerplay) and Vince Connon (36.19) helped Stars extend their advantage.

Jason Silverthorn (50.11) and Vaskovic (51.53) traded goals before Stars put back-up goaltender Craig Chalmers in for Dan Bakala with 4.30 left.

Sacchetti grabbed his second of the night at 56.41 as Stingrays lost for the eighth successive game on the road.

Stingrays stay on 50 points, three ahead of ninth-placed Fife Flyers – who have a game in hand – and travel to Sheffield Steelers tomorrow night.

Owner Bobby McEwan said: “I just want to apologise to the fans for that performance. We had a coach load who travelled up to the game but what they saw was unacceptable.”
