LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Wranglers seemed to pick up where they left off Tuesday night by scoring the opening marker of game two in their quarterfinals series with Utah. Kyle Hagel put the home club on the board at 2:29 of the first period and all seemed well. But the Grizzlies woke from their funk in the desert and potted the next four goals in the game and cruised to an easy 4-1 win game two. The win knotted the best-of-five series at one game apiece and now sends the series to Utah’s home ice for the balance of the games. Utah got on the board shortly after Hagel’s marker when defenseman Peter Vandermeer got his first of the playoffs, off a feed from Malcolm MacMillan less than four minutes later. The dagger to the Wranglers was delivered by James Sixsmith who picked up an errant pass for a turnover and scored unassisted for a short-handed goal that gave the Grizzlies the lead for good. Utah outshot the Wranglers, 35-30 on the night and were backstopped by Mikko Koskinen who had the single blemish on his record for the night. Thursday is a travel night and the two teams head back to the ice in Utah where the Grizzlies can put the Wranglers in a tight spot with a win. Contact Lou.Lafrado@prohockeynews.com
