COVENTRY, UK – Ryan Ginand continued his stunning scoring streak as Genting Casino Coventry Blaze registered a four-point weekend in the Rapid Solicitors Elite League following a 3-1 win over Nottingham Panthers at the Skydome.
Ginand netted for the seventh successive game – grabbing 10 goals in the process – and now has a league-high 42 for the season.
But Ginand levelled for Blaze at 29.50 before converting a penalty shot at 38.09. After Panthers pulled goaltender Craig Kowalski, Michael Henrich wrapped up the points with an empty-net marker with 55 seconds left.
Zacharias was named man of the of the match for Blaze after making 40 saves and coach Matt Soderstrom said: “It was a massive win for us.
“Mike Zacharias kept us in it in the first period but I think in the end we deserved it.
“Ryan Ginand has been doing that all year but to be honest it doesn’t matter who scores as long as we win.
“We have played one bad period in the last three weeks. It is another four-point weekend and we are starting to get it together.
“We want to finish as high as we can. It is so tight this year it is going to go down to the last weekend.”
