Giants continue impressive recruitment with Mason

BELFAST, UK – Belfast Giants Head Coach Doug Christiansen continues to build an impressive squad with latest signing American blueliner Jeff Mason joining an already fearesome line up. The Giants, who will become the first UK pro team to play an NHL team this September as they take on the Boston Bruins at home in the Odessey Arena, have already assembled a strong line up that many are tipping for glory.
This time putting pen to paper is an attacking defenceman who will be an asset on the powerplay this coming season.
A 28 year old Providence College graduate, Mason has also had spells in Finland and Germany but has had his greatest successes in the ECHL where he has worn a letter for Gwinnett Gladiators and scored a point every other game.
Christiansen will be hoping the 5ft 10in player will become the Giants answer to Coventry Blaze and Elite League legend Neal Martin as the quarterback of the Giants powerplay.
Mason will be in good company in September with an impressive line up already signed in Belfast including former Edinburgh Capitals and Washington Capitals forward Colin Hemingway, 09-10 Elite League leading point scorer Colin Sheilds and hard working Josh Pruddon all signed up with a number of key import places still to be taken.
On the exit front, Giants entertaining forward Sean McMorrow has signed with Elite League newcomers Dundee Stars.
