Gamblers convert powerful play in win

PAPILLION, NE – The second offering in the best-of-five series between the Waterloo Black Hawks and the Green Bay Gamblers created considerable more interest than the Gamblers 4-1 opening win.  Waterloo’s inability to stay out of the penalty box opened up multiple chances for Green Bay that led to a second straight win in the series.
With three goals resulting from eight power plays, Green Bay accepted the offering from the Black Hawks and used it to their advantage.  Waterloo spent a total of 32 minutes on twelve infractions within the ‘sin bin’ that allowed Green Bay to place a total of 35 shot on goal.  Despite the success on the power play, Green Bay needed overtime to finalize the results.  With 21.3 seconds left in play, the Black Hawks down a skater, and the Gamblers sitting with an open net, Michael Forney tipped a shot from William Rapuzzi that tied the game at three.
Overtime appeared much the same for Waterloo as cooler heads prevailed on the Green Bay bench.  At the same time as Ryan Furne scored the game winner for Green Bay, Craig Smith received a then minute game misconduct for poor on ice decision making.  With the overtime win, the Gamblers move into a commanding two game lead over Waterloo with the ability to clinch on Wednesday in Waterloo, Iowa.
