Four-goal first sinks Wranglers in Alaska, 5-2 Aces win weekday game to open three-game series

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Las Vegas Wranglers fell 5-2 to the Alaska Aces tonight, dropping the first in a three-game series. Alaska Aces logo

The first period belonged to Alaska as Aces right wing David Eddy scored at the 8:40 mark to open the game. His goal was followed up by Aces defenseman James Martin posting just his second goal of the season, leaving the Wranglers down 2-0. Special teams made it a 4-0 game for Alaska at the end of the first as forward Ross Ring-Jarvi secured a shorthanded goal and right wing Peter Sivak collected a power play goal. 

Midway through the second, Wranglers center John Armstrong put Las Vegas on the board with the lone goal of the period. Four minutes into the third, Sivak scored his second goal of the game for Alaska and the 5-1 lead. Wranglers center Chad Nehring notched a power play goal in response, but the 5-2 score held in favor of the Aces. 

The road series continues with two more games against the Aces on Friday, Jan. 17, and Saturday, Jan. 18. The Wranglers will host a viewing party for the game on Friday at Scooter’s Pub, which will feature raffle prizes and non-traveling players starting at 8:15 p.m.
