Florida drops game to Toledo

ESTERO, FL – Wednesday night was the last of eight meeting between the Florida Everblades and the Toledo Walleye.   Last night’s game at Lucas County Arena was stop number five on Florida’s northern road trip.
WEDNESDAY – @ Toledo – December 2, 2009 – TOLEDO-3   /   FLORIDA-2         The Walleye jumped out in the lead and never let it go.   They opened the scoring with a short-handed goal at just 3:00 of the first period by Adam Hobson.   Maxime Tanguay added his own tally at 11:43.   They continued to dominate and the Blades found themselves in a two goal deficit situation at the end of the first.
Toledo kept up their momentum with Chris Robertson making the score 3-0 early in the second period at 4:54.   Florida Coach Malcolm Cameron had seen enough and pulled goaltender Mike Morrison after he let in 3 goals on just 18 shots.   He was replaced by Barry Brust.   Brust played well and kept Toledo from scoring the rest of the game.   However, Florida was now down by a score of 3-0 at the second break.
It looked like Toledo might actually shut Florida out for the night.   Finally, at   12:23 of the third, the Blades got on the board with a goal by Colin Nicholson.   Jordan Morrison scored a quick one right after at 13:08.   It then appeared as thought the momentum had changed for the Blades, but two goals just wasn’t enough tonight.   The Walleye pleased their hometown crowd with a 3-2 victory over the Everblades.
