Fire destroys Tigers Stadium

STRAUBING,GER- After just one year in the top flight, German DEL side Straubing Tigers have been the victim of a devastating fire. Recently up grading the Straubing Ice Stadium to meet the standards of the DEL league following their promotion from the 2nd Bundesliga, the German outfit are believed to be a victim of arson. The fire ripped through part of the 6000 seater stadium destroying the ice surface, the thermal protection throughout the roof. damaged. The fire is believed to have been started at section where building material was been stored. Fire wasn’t the only problem, there has been a considerable amount of smoke damage. The cost of the damage is an estimated six figure amount but is yet to be confirmed by investigators. It is not sure how this will affect the franchise for the up coming 2008-09 season, officials from the DEL league are currently in the process of talking to club representatives. The Tiger’s were due to start the 2008-09 season on September 5 at home to Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg.
