BLACKBURN, UK – ENL2 champions Solway Sharks celebrated their title success in style with an 11-0 win over Flintshire Freeze and ensured they finished the season with a 100% record.
Sharks went ahead in the 17th minute when Nathan Salem converted after Freeze netminder George Cox had denied Bob Chalmers. Struan Tonnar made it 2-0 early in the second, but it wasn’t until the final period when Sharks finally showed their class. Tonnar added another four, Salem completed his hat-trick, with Jamie Kerr, Marc Fowley and Adam Reynolds also getting on the scoresheet. The only other game saw Fylde Flyers finish their first ENL season with a 7-0 win at Lancashire Raptors. This weekend sees the first leg of the ENL1 play-off final between Blackburn Hawks and Billingham Stars. Hawks have a couple of injury concerns ahead of the game with Jordan Bannon and Bobby Streetly facing a race to be fit, but Stars expect to travel with a full squad. Blackburn Arena have announced reduced prices for the game – Adults £4, Children £2 – in the hope of breaking the record attendance for an ENL fixture. Face-off is on Sunday 22nd April at 5.45 pm, with the second leg in Billingham the following Sunday at 6.30 pm. Contact the author at: Michael.Black@prohockeynews.com
