Early blow for Phoenix

MANCHESTER, UK – MANCHESTER Phoenix have released Finnish forward Timo Kuuluvainen. The 28-year old had a knee operation in the summer and hoped it would be fully rehabbed for the new season. But it flared up in Phoenix’ 3-2 aggregate loss to Sheffield last weekend and could take a further month to heal. Player-Coach Tony Hand said: “He was told that he would be fully fit for the new season and that he would make a complete recovery. Sadly this has not been the case and he has had problems with the knee after the Sheffield games. “Timo fully understands that the club are not in a position to be an import forward down for such a long time and he will be going home for rest and rehab.” The Club will now look to bring in a replacement import as soon as possible. Hand is already consigned to losing forward Liam Chong until Christmas. The youngster has a knee injury. To contact the author email: Mike.Appleton@prohockeynews.com
