LOVELAND, Colo – The Las Vegas Wranglers finished a three-game road series in Colorado tonight, falling 4-3 to the Eagles and taking three points in the contests.
Just 2:36 into the game, Wranglers center Geoff Paukovich scored his second goal of the season. Colorado responded two minutes with a power play goal from Eagles right wing Luke Fulghum, and the score knotted at 1-1.
Midway through the second, the tie game broke as Wranglers defenseman Jeff May tallied a power play goal. With two Colorado goals 39 seconds apart, Eagles forward Kyle Ostrow and center Riley Nelson beat Wranglers goalie Mitch O’Keefe to take the 3-2 lead.
Another early-period goal – 3:29 into the third – saw Wranglers forward Geoff Irwin once again tie the game. The 3-3 game was close to facing overtime, but a Colorado power play in the last 1:57 of regulation allowed Eagles forward Trent Daavettila to post a game-winning goal. Despite the loss, the Wranglers collected three points from the Eagles after winning 5-3 on Wednesday, Nov. 20, and falling in overtime last night, 4-3.
The Wranglers finish five weeks of road games with two contests against the Idaho Steelheads starting Tuesday, Nov. 26. The team returns home on Friday, Dec. 6, to take on the Bakersfield Condors, and The Smithereens will perform a post-game concert.
