Domish departs Tyneside

NEWCASTLE, UK – Jerramie Domish has played his last game for the Newcastle Vipers as it has been confirmed by the club that the dynamic defenceman will not be returning to the north east next campaign. Few UK Hockey fans knew much about Domish at the start of the 2009/10 term however after a number of stand out performances during the season it is thought that a clutch of Elite League sides are keen to sign the right handed blue liner.

Domish was able to pick up 7 goals and 23 assists in his first season in British ice hockey even though the Vipers struggled to find their best form in the 2nd half of the campaign. It also has to be noted that the popular d man put his body on line for his team on many occasions this term as Jerramie played a number of games when he was clearing carrying an injury or two.

The former Rockford Icehog was keen to remain on Tyneside for the 2010/11 season however many offers have come in for the talented defenceman and unfortunately Newcastle are unable to compete with the economic terms offered to the player by other sides in both Britain and Europe. Domish was keen to explore the possibility of being sponsored by local company’s so that he could remain with the Vipers however after looking into this option the player, his agent and the club have all agreed that it is in the best interests of all parties if Jerramie moves away from Newcastle next term.

At this moment in time it is not clear where he will end up playing next campaign though whoever signs the blue liner is sure to get an end to end player who will give his all every time he is out on the ice. Domish has arguably been the best defensive player to grace the ice in the north east since Ben Storey a few seasons ago and if Newcastle are to enjoy a successful season next campaign the club will have to sign a talented d man who can fill the void that will no doubt be left now that Domish has departed.
EDITOR’S NOTE – Since the time of writing Jerramie Domish has signed for the Sheffield Steelers, also of the EIHL.
