Dmitri Zimozdra announced as the Steeldogs starting netminder

SHEFFIELD, U.K.- The Steeldogs have re-signed netminder, Dmitri Zimozdra, for his third consecutive season but as the starting goalie for the Sheffield side.

After the departure of their starting netminder last season, Ben Bowns, who signed for the Hull Stringrays this summer, Zimozdra has stepped up for Steeldogs.

Zimozdra has played for Sheffield Academy teams at all ages, recording some impressive stats with the Sheffield Spartans with an average save percentage of 93.9% in 28 games over two seasons.

Steeldogs owner, Shane Smith, said, “ It is great to see Dmitri getting his chance this year”.

“For the last few seasons he has backed up the Steeldogs and we feel it is Dmitri’s chance to step up.”

Head Coach, Andre Payette, said, “ This is Dima’s big chance. I know he is more than up for it and feel that Dima will surprise a lot of people”.

“He is probably our most athletic player on the team and I look for him to be one of the biggest surprises in the EPL in 2012-13.”
