Detroit evens series with 7-4 win

GLENDALE, Ariz – There is nothing worse than irritating the big kid on the block and then not be able to back up the act.   So it was last night with the Phoenix Coyotes and Detroit Red Wings in game two of this quarter finals series.

Henrik Zetterberg was the hero for Detroit as he notched his first playoff hat trick on the evening and fueled the Red Wings’ attack as they evened the series and stole home ice away from the Coyotes.

Zetterberg was credited with the game winner with just over six minutes left in the game.

On the other side of the ledger, the Coyotes could not hold three different leads in the game, including the last at 3-2 before the Wings ripped off five goals for the win.

Netminder Ilya Bryzgalov was victimized by a porous defense in this game that gave him little support.

Detroit’s Justin Abdelkader gave the Wings their first lead of the game in the third period before Coyotes captain Shane Doan tied it again.

From there it was all Detroit and the Coyotes had no answers.

The series now switches to Detroit for games 3 and 4.   Game 3 will be Sunday at 3:00 PM ET.
