Detroit clamps down on Coyotes, wins 3-0

DETROIT, Mich – In an early start to this game four of the series, The Red Wings were the team to come out with energy and desire.   The Coyotes missed the early wake-up and now themselves locked in a tie with their fiercest rivals.

Jimmy Howard made 29 saves for the Red Wings and backstopped Detroit to a solid 3-0 win.

Howard and Ilya Bryzgalov matched each other’s performance in the first period as the teams traded shots but neither found the back of the net.

Henrik Zetterberg, Todd Bertuzzi and Pavel Datsyuk scored for Detroit.

Bertuzzi broke the scoreless tie when he deflected a shot from Niklas Kronwall with just over four minutes left in the second period.   It was Bertuzzi’s first goal of the series.

Howard was stellar enough throughout the game to make the one goal stand up but Zetterberg and Datsyuk added markers in the third to pad the lead.

Despite the need for offense, the Coyotes managed only six shots on goal in the third period.

Game five will be in Glendale Thursday night then the series switches back to Detroit this weekend for game six.
