BOISE, Idaho – The Cincinnati Cyclones held off the Idaho Steelheads in game two and win 1-0 at Qwest Arena.   Robert Mayer, the goal tender for the Cyclones, has posted his third shut out of the post season.

The entire game was a testament to excellent goaltending by both teams. Rejean Beauchemin had 24 saves, while Mayer posted 18 in the win.

The game was scoreless through the first two periods, with a number of clashes in and around each net as the whistle stopped play.   Neither team’s offense could solve the outstanding goaltending.

In the third period, it appeared it would be another scoreless period.   But the game winning goal turned out to be a bad bouncing puck rebound, with only 20 seconds remaining in the game, to slip past Beauchemin, and silence the Idaho crowd of4,684.   The goal was credited to Mathieu Aubin, his fourth of the post season, with an assist credited to Barret Eghoetz.

The Cincinnati Cyclones lead the Kelly Cup Finals, 2 games to none, as the teams travel to Cincinnati for subsequent games three, four and five, if necessary.
