Condors and Salmon Kings even at 1-1

STOCKTON , Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors evened the series at one-apiece against the Victoria Salmon Kings in the Conference Quarterfinals with a 4-2 win.   Condors’ Kyle Calder’s hat-trick is the first of the post-season.
 
The game at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria was played before 3,344 fans. Victoria’s Olivier Filion scored the first goal at 13:48, on a feed from Wes Goldie that beat goaltender Timo Pielmeier.   The Condors answered back with two goals before the horn. Calder’s first goal beat Matt Keetley to the net, followed by Evan Stoflet’s unassisted goal late in the period to send the Condor’s to the break leading 2-1.
 
The second period consisted of back and forth action until late in the period when Goldie scored on a power play to even the score. The goal was his third goal of the post-season.  
 
Late in the third period, Bakersfield’s Calder slipped the puck past Keetley for his second goal of the night. Andrew Ianiero got the assist.   With Keetley pulled for the extra man advantage, Calder sealed the win with his empty-netter, and his third goal of the night giving the Condors the 4-2 victory.
 
Pielmeier got the win with 27 saves, while Keetley made 16 saves, absorbing the loss.  
 
Both teams will travel to Bakersfield for game three on Saturday, April 10 at Rabobank Arena. Game four will be on Sunday, while game five, if necessary is on Monday.
