CHL Preview: Rapid City adds depth to talented squad

RAPID CITY, S.D. – While a good amount of off-season turnover is normal in the CHL, the Rapid City Rush, under sixth-year head coach Joe Ferras, welcomed nine players from last year’s team that finished fourth in the league. Leading scorers Jared Brown and Jesse Schultz will anchor the offensive efforts along with Scott Wray. Defensively, Riley Weselowski returns off of a 28-point season, while Justin Sawyer will once again police the ice from the blue line.

Notable additions include defenseman Gio Flamminio, who returns after a two-season stint with the Tulsa Oilers, and Konrad Reeder who contributed 82-points for the Rush during the 2011-12 season. Eric Giosa returns to the CHL after spending last season with the Fort Wayne Komets in the ECHL. In two seasons with the Quad City Mallards Giosa netted 118-points. If they can remain healthy, the Rush could make a deep playoff run.
