TEMPE, Ariz. – In conjunction with its upcoming 20th Anniversary season, the Central Hockey League has introduced a commemorative logo and has also announced the formation of the CHL Hall of Fame. All team uniforms throughout the season will feature the 20th anniversary logo patch. The CHL Hall of Fame which will recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements of players, coaches and personnel who made significant accomplishments during their respective tenures in the league. The inaugural CHL Hall of Fame Class will be announced at the 2012 CHL All-Star Game, which will be hosted hosted by the Arizona Sundogs at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. The CHL will appoint and introduce a Hall of Fame Selection Committee prior to the 2011-12 Regular Season whose role will be to identify and select candidates for the CHL Hall of Fame. Inductees will be selected in five categories: Player, Coach, Executive, Owner and Official. No more than five individuals will be elected to the Hall of Fame each year with a maximum of three players. “To recognize 20 years of Central Hockey League play we are excited to present the anniversary logo,” CHL Commissioner Duane Lewis said. “In addition, there are so many people over the 20 years of CHL history who have made significant contributions to the league, their markets and the sport of hockey, and we thought it was appropriate at this time to start of our Hall of Fame.” In its inaugural 1992–93 season, the league had six teams, including the Oklahoma City Blazers, Tulsa Oilers, Wichita Thunder, Memphis RiverKings, Dallas Freeze and the Fort Worth Fire. The CHL merged with the Western Professional Hockey League in 2001. The CHL’s 20th anniversary season will commence on Friday, October 21, 2011 and conclude on Sunday, March 25, 2012. The new season will consist of a 14-team league split into two conferences of seven teams, with the conference reflecting the geography of the North (Turner Conference) and South (Berry Conference).
