CHL fans to experience a new form of game tracking

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – Fans of the Central Hockey League may have noticed something a little different when checking the scores of Tuesday night’s games on Pointstreak.com.

All of the usual features were present with the addition of a Game Live Beta tab. Fans who clicked on the tab were treated to a preview of things to come; an NHL-quality game tracker with some really neat multimedia features.

The Game Live Beta feed includes an attractive full-color display, including rosters with links to player statistics and a play-by-play analysis of the game that can be scrolled though at any time. This includes shots on goal (listing the player who made the shot), goals (listing the scorer and assists) and penalties (listing the offender, type of penalty and length), all timed to the minute and second.

There are links to scoring and penalty summaries as well as match up and game stats, providing a quick glimpse at past meetings between the teams, who’s hot, top scorers vs. opponent and top scorers of the season for each team. The colorful graphics and player images really add to the experience.

According to Gregg Sayer, Pointstreak.com’s Vice-President of Communications, the Game Live feature had a successful initial run through and beta testing will continue.

“Our Game Live beta test (with CHL, IHL, SPHL & USHL) went pretty smoothly, and while we have a few improvements we plan on making to the final version, we do plan on releasing Game Live beta to our remaining North American hockey clients in the next 2 days,” Sayer said.

An official announcement on the release will be made this Friday and Sayer says that fans will be seeing more games using the new game tracker soon.

“Game Live beta has been released to ALL CHL teams, so all CHL games will be available through Game Live beta effective immediately (as long as they accept the update to their Pointstreak scoring software, that is),” Sayer said.

There’s no set timeline for the final version to be launched. Pointstreak wants to be sure that any problems are worked out before its release.

“The final version will be cleansed of bugs and unforeseen stats errors, plus will have some cool new features we have in mind, like an interactive timeline to give fans a sense of the game’s flow,” Sayer said.

If you haven’t seen it yet, head over to Pointstreak.com and pull up the scoreboard for Tuesday’s games for a sneak preview and watch for more Game Live beta broadcasts in the future.
