PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz – The Arizona SunDogs of the Central Hockey League announced on their web site today that the CHL has terminated the operating agreement of the current ownership group for the franchise.
Consolidated Sports Holdings (USA) was operating the franchise since taking over last year but spotty attendance and a weak Arizona economy conspired against the group.
Ending its fourth season in the CHL, the SunDogs were a disappointment on the ice and at the gate. The team won the CHL championship just two seasons ago and has since fallen on hard times.
In a tersely worded statement, Shane Ferraro, media relations manager for the team, said the club was looking forward to its fifth season in the CHL for the 20110-11 season.
