TEMPE, AZ – The Central Hockey League announced this week that two alumni of the league have been named to positions in the American Hockey League.
Mark French, former Wichita Thunder head coach, has been named as the new head coach of the Calder Cup Champion Hershey Bears. French will now be coaching the AAA prospects for the Washington Capitals of the NHL. For French this was an elevation from assistant coach, a role he has held for two seasons with the Bears.
The second CHL alumnus is Troy Mann who was named French’s successor as assistant coach in Hershey. Mann played 72 games in the CHL between 2002 and 2005 in San Angelo and Topeka. He was the assistant coach in Topeka for the 2004-05 season prior to coaching the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL. Last season Mann was the associate head coach for the Charlotte Checkers (ECHL).
