Checkers win with a 4-3 victory in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wisc – Victor Rask scored his first-ever goal for Charlotte midway through the first period when he diverted a pass from Jerome Samson into the Admirals’ goal. The move began with Checkers’ captain Brett Sutter who along with Samson was also credited with the assist.
 
Milwaukee immediately responded with Mark Van Guilder hitting the post.
 
Charlotte then got on top early in the second period and almost went further ahead when Checkers’ Marc-Andre Gragnani had his shot saved by Admirals’ goalie Jeremy Smith.
 
Smith’s work in the Milwaukee goal inspired the Admirals they came back with Gabriel Bourque tying the game up in the seventh minute of the period.
 
A high hit on Checkers’ Jeremy Walsh gave the visitors a man advantage. Drayson Bowman then beat Smith from a pass from Bobby Sanguinetti to give Charlotte a 2-1 lead. Within two minutes Charlotte went further ahead with a goal from Sean Dolan, his first of the season.
 
Zach Boychuk added to Charlottes total making the score 4-1 this continued his run of success this season, so far he has scored two goals and had three assists.
 
In the third period, Milwaukee scored through Patrick Cehlin on a 5-3 power-play. Then with three minutes to play Admirals Mattias Ekholm made the score 4-3 knocking home a rebound.
 
Justin Peters in the Checkers’ goal made 22 saves to gain his second win of the season.
 
Charlotte is now 2-0-1, they travel to Rockford to play the IceHogs tonight and Sunday.
