CHARLOTTE, NC – Drayson Bowman, 23 signed a two-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes that will pay him $600,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL level in 2012-13.
Bowman split the 2011-12 season between the Hurricanes and the Checkers. Playing for the Hurricanes he scored 6 goals, had 7 assisted giving him a total of 13 points from 37 games. He added 13 goals and 13 assists in 46 games for the Checkers.
A third round draft, 72 overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Bowman has scored eight goals and earned eight assists with the Hurricanes in 69 career games in the NHL. He also appeared in 149 career AHL games with Albany and Charlotte totaling 42 goals and 46 assists.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan he played junior hockey for Spokane of the Western Hockey League prior to turning professional. In 265 games he scored 130 goals and had 112 assists he also helped the Chiefs capture the 2008 Memorial Cup.
