CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Checkers host the Texas Stars on Saturday December 3 and the Lake Erie Monsters on Sunday/ Monday December 4/5. They also have a big promotional weekend planned with a Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday at 5P.M. Fans are asked to bring a new stuffed animal wrapped in plastic to the game. When the Checkers score their first goal fans throw the animal onto the ice where they will be collected and delivered to Presbyterian Hemby Children’s hospital by the Checkers players.
The goal is 3,500 stuffed animals, 1,000 more than last year, one for each child admitted to the hospital each year.
On Saturday night the first 2,500 fans receive a Checkers foam hockey stick and puck, courtesy of Horizon Eye Care. Also on Saturday, Goodwill of the Southern Piedmont will have a clothing drive and fashion show, featuring the CheckMates. Fans that bring new or like new clothing receive a free ticket to the December 15 game versus the Chicago Wolves.
Breaking News-Justin Peters names Reebok/AHL goaltender of the month. In recognition of his achievement, Peters will receive a special crystal award prior to an upcoming game.
