Checkers lose again to Admirals

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Milwaukee Admirals won their second game against Charlotte this week. They return to Milwaukee after a 4-2 victory that sees them move to four points behind the leader, Chicago Wolves, in the Midwest Division.

The Admirals got on the scoreboard first with Brodie Dupont scoring on a power-play. The Checkers came right back and within minutes had tied the game through Zach Boychuk, his 20th goal of the season. A shot from Checker Joe Sova was diverted by Boychuk passed Atte Engren in the Admiral goal.

The second period got underway with Milwaukee’s Teemu Laakso scoring on a power-play. Then Chris Mueller made the score 3-1 after a nice passing movement. Almost immediately Drayson Bowman got a goal back for Charlotte. Checkers defenseman Justin Krueger’s shot from the point rebounded to Bowman for the goal.

Before the end of the period Admirals Taylor Beck eased the pressure for Milwaukee when he beat Justin Peters in the Checkers goal from close range.

The score stayed the same through the third period even though Charlotte did have a number of opportunities in front of goal.

The Western Conference battle continues with every point being important to the Checkers. They now face Abbotsford Heat on Saturday April 7 at 12pm at the time Warner Cable Arena. They play Abbotsford again on Sunday at 3pm before the final four games that are all on the road.
