record against the Oklahoma City Barons this season, the other being Milwaukee. Games against Oklahoma, the leading AHL side, had been close all season until last night when Charlotte won convincingly, 6-2.

The Checkers had only one win in their last five games, this defeat of the Barons meant that they stayed top of the Mid West Division with Chicago Wolves breathing down their necks.

  A. J. Jenks opened the scoring on a power play towards the end of the first period, then Sean Dolan added number two with a tip in. Brett Sutter and A. J. Jenks increased the lead to 4-0 before Chris Terry had a shot that went through the net to make the score 5-0 Checkers.
Oklahoma came to life at the beginning of the third period, within four minutes had pulled two of the goals back through Chris VandeVelde. The Checkers struck right back with Chris Shuggs scoring on a breakaway 21 seconds later. Shugg, a rookie had just been recalled from the Florida Everblades last week.
John Muse in the Charlotte goal made 26 saves giving him a 10-3-1 season.  Charlotte out-shot the Barons 42-28 whose goalie David LeNeveu started the game as the top AHL goaltender with a 2.00 goals against average.
