Charlotte Checkers Weekly Roundup

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Checkers’ overall record for the season so far is 3-1-1; they lead the South Division by two points and are 3rd in the Western Conference. This is the best start that the Checkers have had in the AHL only four teams; Syracuse, Lake Erie, Chicago and Norfolk have more points after five games.
 
Drayson Bowman leads the team with four goals this season. He is tied for third place in the AHL behind Rochester’s Marcus Foligno and Syracuse’s Tyler Johnson who have scored five a piece. It is the power-play where Bowman has shone with three of his goals coming with a man advantage. He is in a four-man tie for most power-play goals in the AHL.
 
Zach Boychuk with 6 points is tied for 11th place in the AHL for overall scoring. He has scored points in four of Charlotte’s five games and has 16 shots on goal this season. Checker’s forward, Jerome Samson is atop the AHL shots on goal ranking with 21-an average of 4.2 per game.
 
Charlotte have completed five of the nine games they have on the road to start the season. They have their first home game on Sunday November 4, face-off 3pm. October 26 they visit Grand Rapids, 7pm, October 27/28, they are at Peoria, face-off 8.05pm and 6.05pm.
