Paluch’s resignation is effective immediately and will allow him to take a position with USA Hockey. Paluch will now serve as Regional Developmental Model Supervisor for the governing body of American hockey. The new program was developed in January in hopes of taking the United States to the next level of international hockey development and play. Dennis Williams will take over the reigns at Bowling Green on an interim basis for the 2009-10 Season. Williams was most recently with Neumann College (Pennsylvania), a Division III school. Player of the Week Jerad Kaufmann, Goalie University of Nebraska-Omaha The undrafted senior gave a lot to the Omaha community during his tenure with the Mavericks. However, none may be more notable then his personally coordinated Military appreciation night in which he raised money for the Brian McDonough Military Heroes Foundation. McDonough was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq in December of 2006. Kaufmann, with the assistance from the Omaha community and the University of Nebraska at Omaha, thanked their veterans with a ceremonial puck drop by a wounded veteran. Nebraska-Omaha has a long standing relationship with military veterans and has one of the largest “Boot Strapper” programs at the University level. The Boot Strapper programs allow military veterans the opportunity to achieve a college education after their completion of military service. Quote of the Week On former Bowling Green Head Coach Scott Paluch (from the CCHA website): “Scott has given everything he has to BGSU hockey and we all wish him the best,” said Director of Athletics Greg Christopher. “He’ll bring a wealth of experience to USA Hockey and I know that he’ll be following the Falcons. Scott has been a first-class representative of BGSU Athletics and our hockey team reflects that as well.” You may contact the author at John.Strathman@prohockeynews.com
