Canucks lead the series 3-2

VANCOUVER, B.C. – The home team has prevailed again, as the Canucks defeated the Bruins at Rogers Arena with a final score of 1-0 in game five. In all games the home team has been the victor.

The game winning goal came in the third period, at 4:35, when a long slap shot from Kevin Bieksa that ricocheted off the backboard behind the net, and Maxim Lapierre was in the right place at the right time to wrist the shot in behind Tim Thomas.

Despite several other scoring chances for both teams, the goaltenders ruled the match and staved off anything that came at them. Roberto Luongo, coming off of two games in which the Bruins scored a combined 12 goals, was stellar in game five, posting 31 saves.

The first two periods were riddled with chances for Boston, as they had three separate power plays that they were unable to score.

The teams travel to Boston for game six on Monday.
