oblivion.   Oh how the gods can be fickle and alter perceptions.   The New Jersey Devils were in Philadelphia Tuesday night for a tilt with the Flyers. Bryzgalov was riding a streak of scoreless minutes and the Devils were in need of two points to keep pressure on the teams around them in pursuit of decent seed in the playoffs.

Bryzgalov has now won five straight after shutting out the Devils Tuesday, 3-0.   He stopped 17 shots and has now managed to string together an impressive 145 saves of the last 147 shots he has faced.

Tuesday was his third straight shutout giving Flyers fans reason for optimism in the crease as the post season looms. The latest blanking also tied a mark set by John Vanbiesbrouck in 1999.

The Flyers now have 87 points in the standings and needed these two to compete with the Pittsburgh Penguins who have caught lightning in a bottle and won 9 straight.
