Bruins beat Jets in Julien’s 500th game in Boston

January 4 2014 BOSTON-  The Boston Bruins showed the Winnipeg Jets how far away they are from being an elite team as they beat them 4-1 on this afternoon affair. The Jets played well but just couldn’t find away to find the back of the net .

Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask was sharp as always as he stopped 36 shots and got his 21st win on the season.

Ondrej Pavelec was back in between the pipes for the Jets and gave up 4 goals on 29 shots to take the loss.

The Jets came out and pushed the play early looking to use the speed that makes them one of the fastest teams in the league .

There was an edge to this game early as Chris Thorburn dropped the mitts with Bruins captain Zdeno Chara , and right after on the next face off James Wright and Bruins Matt Fraser dropped the mitts as well in a lightweight bout.

Winnipeg got its lone goal off the stick of big Dustin Byfuglien who sniped his 9th of the season.

Boston got goals from Dan Paille his 6th, Torey Krug had a pair his 9th ,10th and Reilly Smith got his 15th.

Krug was also named the games first star and had a 3 point night the first of his career.

This was the 500th game behind the Bruins bench for Coach Claude Julien .

Dustin Byfuglien led the Jets with 7 shots on goal and had twenty-four and a half minutes of ice time.

Mark Stuart also dropped the mitts in the third with Adam McQuaid of the Bruins, Stuart the former Bruin was throwing his weight around all game.

The Jets out hit the Bruins 28-22 in this game.

The Jets fall to 19-20-5 on the season and will now travel to Pittsburgh to play another noon start tomorrow.
