LOS ANGELES – The LA Kings came home with a 2-0 series lead over the Canucks and left the ice Sunday night with a strangle hold on the series when the defeate3d Vancouver 1-0.
Dustin Brown picked up his fourth goal of the series when he picked up a rebound in the third period in the low slot and wristed it home.
That goal was backed up by Jonathan Quick who stopped 41 Vancouver shots to send the Kings to a 3-0 series lead.
Meanwhile Cory Schneider started in the Vancouver nets in place of Roberto Luongo and was solid in net though he saw little real action through the first two periods. The Canucks outplayed the Kings though they never looked desperate until the third period.
Where the Canucks are lacking in this series is the power play. They went 0 for 4 on Sunday night and generated few quality chances on the man advantage.
Quick was again agile in net and demonstrated his vision and anticipation for the puck as he moved side to side on rebounds and second chance shots from the Canucks.
Game four is Wednesday night and the Kings can become the ninth eight seed to knock out a top seed since 1993 and can do it in four straight.
The issue for the Canucks will be Schneider being as good, or better than Sunday night and someone in the line up picking up a goal to challenge Quick and the defense of the Kings.
