PAPILLION, NE – In the second game of the Frozen Four, The Boston College Eagles decimated the top seeded University of Miami RedHawks. The lopsided win was the second of the evening following Wisconsin’s rout of the Cinderella RIT. While RIT had played beyond their place, Miami was favored to take back what they had given away last season in the waning minutes of the National Championship.
Ben Smith made the most of his opportunities scoring twice and adding an assist as well. The senior forward from Avon, Connecticut had a total of 33 points this season for the Eagles who finished the regular season ranked third in the polls and finished second in the Hockey East conference.
Boston College limited the RedHawks to 18 total shots never allowing more than eight in a single period. The usual steady duo of Cody Reichard and Connor Knapp were decimated by the Eagles for 30 shots and seven goals. Miami showed little fight and played a very undisciplined game receiving seven penalties for 14 minutes. Boston College will play Wisconsin on Saturday for the National Championship in a rematch of the 2006 National Championship game.
