MANCHESTER , NH – Jonathan Bernier made 18 saves and earned his AHL-leading third shutout of the postseason as Manchester edged the Hershey Bears 1-0 win to tie the Eastern Conference finals at 2-2. After losing the first two games in the series, the Monarchs are now in a position to do something Bridgeport and Albany could not do, which is take the lead in the series against the Bears. Rookie Dwight King scored the only goal of the game at the 9:11 mark of the second period The Bears, who were the leagues highest scoring offense in the regular season and in the playoffs had only five shots in the first period, six in the second, and seven in the third for a total of 18 shots while Manchester put up 26. The Bears have now lost back-to-back games for the first time since losing to Wilkes-Barre Scranton and Binghamton on October 23 and 24.
Game Five will be Thursday night with Game Six and Seven back in Hershey Saturday and Sunday if necessary.
