Bemidji State earns birth in the Frozen Four

BEMIDJI , MINN. –   Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey team sure made the CHA finals fun, if only for one night, but what a night it was.
With the score locked at 2-2 through regulation time, the Beavers and CHA rival Robert Morris University had a bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
BSU’s Matt Read won a face off, charged the net, and put a Ryan Adams rebound into the back of the net 8:05 into overtime for a 3-2 overtime victory to earn the Beavers trip to the NCAA tournament’s field of 16.
“First of all, I don’t think we could have dreamt of having a better game tonight. It could have gone either way – we were just fortunate to get that last bounce,” commented Beavers Head Coach Tom Serratore during his comments in the post game press conference. “Being able to do this at home just makes it that much sweeter.”
Bemidji State outshot RMU 40-31. The Beavers got to the finals game after defeating Alabama-Huntsville on Friday night 4-1. This marks the Beavers third trip to the Frozen Four tournament.
Bemidji State will now await the location and their next opponent for the March 27-28 regional. The nationally televised NCAA Hockey Selection Show is scheduled for ESPN2 Sunday March 22 at 11:30 a.m.
