Bees name new coach

BRACKNELL, UK – The Bracknell Bees have announced their new head coach for next season, and have kept hold of three key players. Gareth Cox will replace Claude Dumas as Head Coach after successfully guiding the Bracknell Hornets to the EIHL South Division one playoff championship. “Gareth has had an outstanding couple of seasons with the Hornets and is committed to developing young, local talent,” Bees’ GM Stuart Robinson said. “This season we are keen to ensure that Bracknell’s assets in both the Bees and Hornets weren’t stripped away like last year, and knew that Gareth was exactly the guy to stop this happening again. “We were impressed with his ideas, the way in which he prepares his teams, his motivational skills and disciplined approach. We believe that he will bring a new dynamic to the team and give us an excellent chance of being more competitive  with our local rivals. We’re already excited about seeing the team on the ice in September and are looking forward to working closely with Gareth.” “I’m delighted to be given the chance of coaching the Bracknell Bees,” Cox said. “And (I am) looking forward to the challenges ahead.” Czech forward Jaroslav Cesky will remain at The Hive next season. The EPL player of the season who picked up an astonishing 119 points will be joined by Michal Pinc, who also impressed last season for the Bees. “Both these players were exceptional last season and they naturally attracted the attention of other clubs,” cox said. “But I’m excited to have them back – two import forwards that I can build the team around.” Also staying on in Bracknell will be captain Terry Miles.
“He is someone I admired last season due to his work ethic and leadership,” Cox said. “He is a good defensive forward who brings as much off the ice as he does on.” Contact the author david.bol@prohockeynews.com
