Bees name new captain

BRACKNELL, UK – The Bees have announced new signing Rob Lamey will take on the captain’s role this season. Former captain Terry Miles left the club for Slough over the summer, allowing the former Guildford Flames player to wear the ‘C’ for the Bees. Bracknell Head Coach Gareth Cox, said: “Rob brings immense experience to the side, is extremely professional and most importantly knows how to win. He is the perfect role model for some of our more junior players.” The 31-year-old winger spent the majority of his career playing for the Flames, and captained Guildford for the 2009-2010 season. The Bees have also appointed two new assistant captains for the new campaign. Martin Masa and Matt Foord will take on the role on their return to Bracknell after both spending several seasons away from the Hive. “Both Martin and Matt bring even more experience and depth to the club this year. They are well known by and have played alongside most of our squad between them. They are positive guys and lead by example in the changing room and on the bench and give 100% every shift” added Cox. Bracknell have also added youngster Lewis Turner to their roster on a two-way contract. The defenceman featured for the Bracknell Hornets for the last two seasons. Due to a successful time at the English National League side, he will suit up for the Bees this season. “I know Lewis well and have keenly watched his progress over the last few years. Although he is only 18, he is calm in the defensive zone and reads the game well. He has a promising senior career ahead of him” said Cox. The Bees face the Slough Jets in two pre-season games this weekend in the Battle of Berkshire Cup ahead of the season opener next weekend. Contact the author david.bol@prohockeynews.com
