Bees add Czech to roster

BRACKNELL, UK – Czech defenceman Valdemar Pelikovsky will suit up at The Hive next season, joing fellow Czechs Jaroslav Cesky and Michal Pinc. Pelikovsky has a lot of experience having played in France, Italy, the USA and Norway. The 30-year-old has previously played with Pinc at Italian club Varese HC. Bees coach Gareth Cox said: “We’ve spent a long time looking for an import defenceman who could bring experience to our blue line and I’m sure that Vald will become a firm fans’ favourite. “I also expect that he will be a valuable addition to our powerplay and penalty killing units and has the offensive experience to move the puck quickly to the forwards from our defensive zone. I’m looking forward to working with him.” The Bees have also strengthened their offence by resigning Niky Watt and former Bee – James Galazzi.

Watt starred for Bracknell last season, teaming up with Cesky and Pinc. Gareth Cox added: “He had a career year in terms of points production last season and was one of the leading British forwards in the league. His feisty approach unsettles opponents and I have no doubt that if he can repeat his output next season, he’ll be a fantastic asset.” Galazzi played for the Bees during the 2006/7 season, and has featured heavily for the Bracknell Hornets over the past few years. Bracknell are set to announce another signing on Thursday evening as their roster comes together for next season. Contact the author david.bol@prohockeynews.com
